Not dated but circa 1890. A new edition. 428pp, [6]; 128 monochrome plate illustrations, six coloured maps of which two fold out. In a decorative trade binding of red cloth-covered boards, decorated with black and gilt illustrations and lettering front and spine, blind embossed pattern on verso. Bevelled edges. All page block edges gilt. 8vo. Boards are bright but a little rubbed on edges, corners and spine tips and joints, with some cracks in cloth around spine. Binding is loosening, and one section of plate illustrations detached.
