[Circa 1880]. viii, 384pp, with tissue-guarded frontispiece.  In a Merchant Taylors' school prize presentation binding of full red calf leather with gilt decorations and lettering, Merchant Taylors' school arms gilded on front panel, together with the school motto and dates (1886), five raised bands on an elaborately decorated spine, with black spine label and gilt titles.  All edges marbled.  Marbled endpapers.  12mo.  Leather a little soiled, shefl worn and discoloured, gently rubbed on corners and over spine.  Spine label peeling.  Prize presentation plate on front paste down indicating that the volume was presented to A G Kent for proficiency classics by the Merchant Taylors' Company.  Some faint and occasional spotting; tissue guarded rusting affecting facing pages a little, else internally neat, clean, bright and tight.

A handsome volume with a pleasing patina.  Written by Kingston then edited and updated by G A Henty.
