Mary Dunhill, born in Great Missenden in Buckinghamshire, joined her father's pipe-making and tobacco business at the bottom, aged 17, but thirty-eight years later became Chairman of the enormous corporation, Alfred Dunhill, tobacconists and cigarette manufacturers.
