Covers heavily worn, rubbed all round edges, rounded on corners, scuffed at spine head, lower half of backstrip absent, cloth rippled on rear pane, marked and stained. Text block edges and endpapers toned. Previous owner's name and gift inscription, dated 1878, inked on front free endpaper. Page margins aging, occasional faint spotting, the odd smudge mark, central signature a little loose. A copy in no better than fair condition but remains complete and readable.
