A linen bound portfolios of documents and mementos relating to an Orient Live Mediterranean Cruise in May 1933 on board the S S Orford (the vessel which brought Emperor Haile Selassie to England in 1936 and was later sunk by German action in June 1940). Portfolio includes an elegantly presented passenger list, with information for passengers; a series of seven printed information cards prepared by the Orient Line for various cities at which the Liner was stopping; a large fold-out plan of the S S Orford; and a series of eight printed guides to city stops, prepared by the Orient Line (Naples, Ragusa, Cattaro, Venice, Vigo, Gibraltar, Lisbon, Korcula and Tangier); and an couple of invitation and information cards for events on board ship. 8vo. The exterior of the portfolio is a little faded, especially around spine and mild marked, lightly rubbed on corners and spine ends. The interior has a little spotting and the front pocket a little misshapen. The contents are crisp and clean, barring the plan of the ship which has some creasing. A really lovely momento of what must have been the luxury trip of a lifetime at the height of the age of top class travel.
