Older Mousie (Junior Country Life Library)
Popular edition reprint. 102pp, with monochrome plate frontispiece and 15 further plate illustrations. Bound in orange linen over tan paper-covered boards. 8vo. Boards a little worn, rubbed at edges with a few minor chips. Spotting and dusting on text block edges. Some occasional light spotting on first and last few leaves else internally neat, clean, bright and tight. In its original illustrated paper dust wrapper. Dust wrapper is toned, rubbed with some light chipping and chapping on edges, heavily sunned over spine, with a few small nicks and chips in panels and on folds. Cracked along upper portion of leading fold. Spotted on inner flaps.  In some senses a sequel to the ever popular Moorland Mousie, in that it deals with the later life of Mousie, Older Mousie proved to be as popular as its precursor. Golden Gorse was the pen name of Muriel Wace (1881-1968). She wrote one of the classics of pony biographies in Moorland Mousie, and there are two other pony stories after Older Mousie.
