Volume contains issues 14 to 26, from June 1896 to December 1896 of the renown journal Navy and Army Illustrated (first issued in 1895). Lavishly illustrated articles cover topics such as the Royal Military Academy, Amateur Theatricals in the Navy, The Honourable Artillery Company, Our Indian Cavalry, Our Four-footed Soldiers (concerned with elephants, camels, bullocks etc as well as horses) etc, and well as more newsy articles and on contemporary personnel and deployments. Bound in strong green cloth-covered, bevelled boards, illustrated and gilt lettering front and spine. Folio. Boards just a little worn and rubbed at corners and spine ends and folds, with small section of lifting in the middle of the spine. There is some tanning on the endpapers, as well as a previous owner's name, and the first page of the first issue is partially loose, else internally neat, clean, bright and tight. Handsome and robust volume full of fascinating detail of day to day military life in the late 19th century.
