Not dated but c 1920. Print illustrated cloth boards, front and spine (rubbed and a little worn at edges and joints, lightly faded, starting at spine ends). Previous owner's name on front endpaper, dated 1926. Monochrome plate frontispiece, and five further similar illustrations, all by Gordon Browne. Occasional scattered faint foxing. Webbing showing in one gutter. Before the advent of dust jackets, many books, especially those for children were bound in brightly coloured cloth with pictorial blocking in gold and colours, often on the spine as well as the front board. This volume is one of those, mostly closed associated with the late Victorian and Edwardian periods, into the 1920s.
