24pp. One fold-out engraving, hand-coloured, extending to c 14 inches. Printed paper wrappers (a little worn and rubbed at edges, small chips on corners, lower rear corner curled). Internally some edge wear to pages and a little creasing around edges of fold-out, not affecting image. An early account of Captain John Ross's second polar voyage, 1829-1833, and his rescue by the Hull-based Whaler, Isabella, in an attempt to discover a north-west passage. The large, hand-coloured engraving is stunning. Scarce. LHB records two copies only (Institute of Naval Medicine & University of London).
