Mutiny! Aboard H M Armed Transport 'Bounty' in 1789
viii, 388pp, with occasional black and white illustrations and logs, tables, charts etc in text. Ship plan on front endpapers, map on rear endpaper. In pale yellow cloth-covered boards with brown titles on spine. 12mo. Gently rounded at corners and spine tips. Internally neat, clean, bright and tight. In its original, illustrated, dust jacket, lightly rubbed at edges and folds, a few marks. Of all the literature on the Bounty and its mutiny, Lt Bligh's log stands out as unique: it alone was written before the mutiny took place, recording events without the lens of hindsight. There are many surprises here, in this annotated reproduction of Bligh's logs, where what's revealed is often very different from the popularized view of the mutiny.
