Mutiny! Aboard H M Armed Transport 'Bounty' in 1789
viii, 388pp, with occasional black and white illustrations and logs, tables, charts etc in text. Ship plan on front endpapers, map on rear endpaper. In pale yellow cloth-covered boards with brown titles on spine. 12mo. Slightly cocked. Gently rounded at corners and spine tips; top text block edge slightly dust marked; hint of spotting on endpapers else neat, clean, bright and tight. In its original, illustrated, dust jacket, rubbed on edges and a tad faded. Of all the literature on the Bounty and its mutiny, Lt Bligh's log stands out as unique, for it alone was written before the mutiny took place, recording events without the lens of hindsight. There are many surprises here, in this annotated reproduction of Bligh's logs, where the facts revealed are often amazingly different from the popularized view of them.
