44pp, 32pp, [iv], 32pp, [viii], [viii]. Bound in red linen covers with gilt lettering and decorations on front panel, gilt titles on spine. Folio. Covers are worn, rubbed at edges, mildly soiled, cracked along spine joints, heavily scuffed and fraying at spine base. Spine faded.  Front hinge cracked, loosening first two leaves. Pages a little toned in margins and few signs of use throughout else generally neat and clean internally. All three sections of Merryweather and Sons' abridged catalogue for Steam Fire Engines, Manual Fire Engines and Fire Mains (dated respectively 1887, 1888 and 1885, bound together with reviews and press extracts relating to James Compton Merryweather's Fire Protection Handbook and his treatise of the Protection of Mansions: How to Prevent Fires and How to Extinguish Them, With Practical Remarks Upon Water Supply and Fire Apparatus. The latter two sections are more heavily browned that the preceding catalogues. Also bound in are (1) a flyer, with a coloured drawing, promoting Merryweather's Inlined and Outlined Canvas Hose for Steam and Hand Fire Engines and Hydrants and (2) a flyer promoting Merryweather's Police Fire Ladders and Combined Ambulance.
