First edition. xvi, 242pp, with occasional monochrome illustrations. Quarter bound in black cloth over grey cloth-covered boards. 8vo. Covers heavily worn, faded and soiled, rubbed all round edges and rounded at corners, cloth cracked and fraying along spine joints. A little loose. Ex lending library with usual markings on endpapers, discreet stamp on copyright page. Significant underlining and a few marginal annotations. Not a pretty volume but a reading/reference copy of this now hard to find study of the contribution made by the Paris clinical school to medicine between 1794 and 1848.
