Maggie Smith in California Suite (Inscribed and Signed Photograph)

A black and white photograph of British actress Dame Maggie Smith in her role as Diane Barrie in the film California Suite (1978), signed and inscribed by Smith: 'For Brian - best wishes Maggie Smith'. The photograph is approximately 10 inches by 8 inches. There is a slip taped to the back giving details of the her appearance in California Suite, a film which also starred Alan Alda, Michael Caine, Jane Fonda, Bill Cosby, Walter Matthau and Richard Prior (the tape has discoloured over time). Smith won an Oscar for her role in the film - and remains the only person to win an Oscar for portraying an Oscar nominee. She also won an Oscar for her role in the Prime of Miss Jean Brodie (1969) but is perhaps best known to younger audiences for playing Minerva McGonagall in the Harry Potter films.
