Cuthbert Bede was the pen name of Edward Bradley (1827-1889), a writer and novelist originally from Kidderminster. His most famous work was 'The Adventures of Verdant Green', to which this volume is a sequel. [1873] 1st edition (true first). 200pp plus 32pp publisher's catalogue bound in at rear. 12mo. Purple beaded cloth-covered boards with gilt vignette and lettering. Numerous, charming and humourous line drawings by the author throughout the text. Boards rubbed at edges, unevenly faded and sunned to spine. Front free endpaper, which carries neat previous owner's inscription, loose. Bastard title page tanned, otherwise neat, clean and tidy internally. Nice copy of this hard-to-find book.
