Eleventh edition, circa 1920. In red cloth-covered boards, decorated, gilt titles on front, black titles on spine. Bevelled edges. 250pp, including some notes, index and contemporary adverts for philately-related products and services at rear. Some 230 pages for mounting stamps. 8vo. Boards are worn and rubbed, especially at corners and spine ends, unevenly faded. Text block edges toned. Previous owner's name, dated 1923, on mildly smudged endpapers. Around half the pages have been completed or partially completed with mounted stamps, all dating from circa 1925 or earlier. Many bear the head of Queen Victoria, Edward VII and George V - either British or Colonial, while stamps from other nations appear to date from the same era. Some are 'overstamped' with messages such as Deutsches', 'War Stamp', 'Service', 'I E F', etc while some others have central perforations spelling out short words or letters. Includes a handful of Penny Reds. The vast majority of the stamps have been postally used but a few bear no post mark. Perhaps the beginning of a general stamp collection, the album has the appearance of not having been touched since the stamps were mounted in the 1920s. Too many stamps and countries represented to list, so please do inquire with specific questions.
