Original leaflet from the publisher, giving details of Major J C Cremony and his writing, loosely laid in, together with an original, unused 'classics of the old west' ex libris bookplate. Life Among the Apaches is a slam-bang, hell-for-leather daredevil account of hard riding, straight shooting and quick thinking in tight corners during the Indian Wars. This was not quite what the author had in mind - his purpose being to show that the American Southwest could be made safe for settlement. Cremony (1815-1879) did not think much of Apaches (or Mexicans for that matter) but acknowledged that their war methods were effective. A beautiful book
