Account by MAbel Dearmer (1872-1915) of her experiences in a hospital unit in Serbia during World War I. She was a writer and illustrator of children's books prior to the war, married to Percy Dearmer, a theologian and social activist. When he volunteered to be Chaplain to a British Red Cross Ambulance unit, his wife decided to accompany him and volunteered as a hospital orderly. She was in Serbia for only three months before dying with a fever. A moving and informative account, now hard to find.
