Cloth gently discoloured on edges, a little rounded on corners and spine ends. Some spotting on text block edges. Internally neat, clean, bright and tight. In its original illustrated matte dust jacket, gently worn, rubbed at spine ends and sunned over spine. Lax's own account of his misson work in Poplar, London, for the London Wesleyan Mission and his phenomenal impact and success. His years in the Mission and the desperate poverty and living conditions of that part of East London are described. A colourful and popular figure, he was featured in the Religious Film Society's first talking picture, Mastership in 1934.
