First thus (first appearance of the three Lark Rise novels in an omnibus edition). [vii], viii-xv, [xvi-xviii], [1-3], 4-556pp, illustrated with wood engravings by Julie Neild. Red cloth-covered boards with gilt titles on the spine. 8vo. Cloth is worn, gently rubbed on edges, a little rounded at corners and spine ends, sunned over spine. Text block edges spotted. Slightest lean. Some faint spotting in endpapers else internally neat, clean and tight internally barring a few signs of handling.
The three books in the Lark Rise triology were published separately in the late 1930s and early 1940s. This is the first time the triology appeared in a single volume under the title Lark Rise to Candleford. It is a semi-autobiographical account of rural life in the home counties in the late 19th century and early 20th century. A very hard to find edition, this copy sadly without dust wrapper.
