First edition, first printing. [1944]. 212pp. in black cloth-covered boards with gilt titles on spine. Volume produced to War Economy Standard. 12mo. Cloth gently rounded at spine ends. Hint of aging text block edges and pages. Gutter ahead of title page a tad strained. In its original dust jacket, a little worn, lightly chapped along upper rear with small closed tear at head of spine, nick on verso, gently bumped along lower edge, price clipped. Dust jacket now protected in an archival quality Mylar wrapper fitted without the use of tape of adhesives. Sabatini (d. 1950) was a Italian born English writer of romance and adventure novels. Prolific, producing around a novel a year, several of his books were turned into silent movies and later talkies. King in Prussia is one of his later works, published in the US under the alternative title of The Birth of Mischief, is a historical novel covering the early years of the 19th century Prussian ruler, Frederick the Great. A pleasing copy.
