Complete in two volumes. Volumes uniformly bound black buckram cloth, with blind embossed cameo on front panel, gilt lettering front and spine. Title pages printed in red and black. Volume one contains plate portraits of both Marx and Engels. Both volumes from the personal library of A T Howarth, now Baron Howarth of Newport, a former Member of Parliament who served at a minister in both Labour and Conservative governments. His name, dated December 1964, is neatly inked on the front free endpaper of each volume. 8vo. Cloth is little worn, gently rubbed and rounded at corners and spine ends. The spine of volume two is a little mottled towards to the top. Hint of toning to endpapers, very occasional small neat annotation in page margin, else internally neat, fresh and clean.
These volumes were published by the Foreign Languages Publishing House in Moscow in 1962 but released in the UK by Lawrence and Wishart, whose stamp appears on the title page of each volume. Lovely set.
