Undated but circa 1917. 24pp, with 12 printed colour chromolithographs showing scenes from the Holy Land, each one accompanied on the opposite page with a captions pressed flower from the region. Bound in olive wood boards, with beautiful carving of a temple on front panel and the word 'Jerusalem' stamped above it. Bevelled edges. Linen spine. Pale marbled endpapers. Landscape 48mo (approximately 4 by 6.5 inches). Linen spine a little worn, lightly fraying at ends. Front hinge cracked. Previous owner's name and address on front paste down. Very light, occasional spotting. Gentle edge wear to pages. Two or three of the pressed flowers have small parts which have rubbed away. A remarkable souvenir of the Holy Land, issued to commemorate the British victory in the Battle of Jerusalem in late 1917, during the British Army's Jerusalem Operations against the Ottoman Empire of the First World War. A remarkable and beautiful artifact, a rare war time survival and tribute to the British Army.
