In the East Country with Sir Thomas Browne, Kt
Stated 2nd edition. xvi, 398pp, with vignette on title page and single decorated initial capital. In blue cloth-covered boards with gilt titles and decorations. 12mo. Boards heavily worn, with mottling and damp stains along leading edges, rubbed on corners and spine ends, a few mild marks, text block edges discoloured. Binding loose, with webbing broken between front endpapers; front free endpaper absent; half title page, which bears the embossed stamp of a previous owner, is detached. Some spotting and toning to first and last few leaves, with the first few leaves showing a small stain on the page edges. Not a pretty copy of this semi-fictionalised and somewhat sentimental account of Sir Thomas Browne (1605-1682), the English Physician and author best remembered for his book of reflections, Religio Medici. Perfectly readable so will serve for research and reading purposes.
