Undated but circa 1930. 80pp, including numerous contemporary adverts. In blue stiff card wrappers with yapped edges. 12mo. Covers are worn and bumped at edges, mildly marked and perhaps a tad faded. Internally neat, clean, bright and tight. Many of the adverts are for businesses in the town of Oswaldtwistle, suggesting the volume is associated with Immanuel Church in Oswaldtwistle, which would seem to be confirmed by the fact that Rev Dodd is listed as the first subscriber: Rev Dodd was vicar at Immanuel in the early part of the 20th century. A wonderful collection of simple recipes, contributed by parishioners, for traditional cakes, biscuits, soups and wines, including Parkin, Shrewsbury Cakes, Chorley Cakes, Plum Pudding, American Ice, Girdle Scones and Sally Lunns etc.
