The first 96 issues of the Illustrated War News, here bound into eight volumes.  Uniformly bound.  Lavishly illustrated with black and white, sepia and tinted images.  Half bound on brown leather over brown cloth boards with gilt lettering and decorations front and spine.  Patterned endpapers.  Landscape 8vo.  Boards generally a little worn, rubbed in places at edges, with some mild scuffing to leather at spine ends. Endpapers have a little toning, and the stamp of a former owner appears on each front free endpaper, else internally generally neat, clean and bright, but Volume One: A couple of small holes on front free endpaper.  Volume 5: binding detaching from text block, front free endpaper crumped around edges.  Volume 7: front hinge cracked with backstrip unglued.  

The Illustrated War News was a a weekly publication during the first world war, with the first issue published for 12 August 1914.  Each issue comprises 48 pages of articles, photographs, maps and diagrams, all printed in landscape format.  The last issue in this set is that for 7h June 1916.  After that date the periodical was reduced to 40 pages and issued in portrait format.

A very hard and heavy set, weighing over 11kg without packaging.  Overseas delivery will require an additional charge above that quoted with the listing, because of the exceptional weight of the package.
