Heifer of the Dawn (The Indian Stories of F W Bain, Volume III)
xiv, 66pp. Quarter bound in cloth over pale blue natural grain parchment boards (board somewhat soiled, rubbed at edges). Internally neat, clean, bright and tight. Firmly bound. Elegant bookplate of F J Waddingham on front paste down. Printed on hand made paper with deckled edges. Printed at the Riccardi Press for an on behalf of the Medici Society. Translation by F W Bain of the (possibly fake) ancient Sanskrit tale of the rising sun and the dawn told in the Vedas four thousand years ago. Bain, a British teacher working in India, wrote many fantasy stories as well as producing a series of translations of what he called ancient Sanskrit manuscripts but there has always been a suspicion that Bain wrote the manuscripts himself.
