Numerous line drawings throughout, with essays on stereotypical English characters by various authors, including Paul Prendergast, William Thackeray, Mrs Gore, Douglas Jerrold and Nimrod. Red buckram boards (rubbed, a little chipped and, faded at edges and spine, grazed at spine base, a bit grubby). Internally neat and clean, one signature loose. This is a scarce volume - there was also a later companion volume which is somewhat easier to find. 8vo
