First edition.  vi, 312pp, with black and white plate illustrations.  In red cloth-covered boards with black titles front and spine.  8vo.  Cloth is a little faded, slightly rubbed on corners and a little pushed at spine tips.  Internally, the pages are a little creamy in places else neat, clean and tight.

The Hutchinsons, an American family singing group, became the most popular entertainers of the 1840s with their reportoire of political, comic, sentimental and social songs.  Widely considered the first uniquely American popular music stars, they toured the United States and popularised four-part harmonies.
