Hambledon Cricket Chronicle, 1772-1796, including the Reproduction of the Minute and Account Books of the Club
1st edition. xiv, 15-188, plus publisher's advertisements at rear. I blue cloth-covered boards with black titles and decorations. 8vo. Very gently rounded at spine ends. A little toning on endpapers, and some faint and occasional spotting, else internally neat, clean, bright and tight. In its original worn, chapped at edges, dust jacket, rubbed over spine folds with minor loss mid spine and spine head. Some 230 years have passed since the great days of Hambledon cricket and most historians of the game have dealt with the activities of club, but here for the first time are reproduced two manuscripts, described in the foreword as being 'of the first importance': a minute book and a statement of accounts. Considering the status the of the club as the fore runner of the MCC, the information supplied cannot fail to appeal to all interested in the history of the game of cricket.
