xx, 116pp, extensively illustrated with black and white photographic reproductions, some in-text. Red cloth-covered boards with gilt titles on spine. Gently rubbed spine ends. Corners ever so slightly rubbed. Minor blemishes on both boards. Dust jacket has very minor shelf wear and appears slightly sun faded around edges. Evidence of previous label on front free end paper. Lender's frank on title page. First half centimeter of page edges slightly tanned. 4to. Gainsborough was not a prolific print maker but his work was of immense originality, power and distinction none the less, and he played an important role in the development of and enrichment of the processes of aquatint and soft-ground etching. Many of the prints in this volume are reproduced here for the first time.
