1944-46. 28pp; 52pp; 56pp; 32pp; 48pp; 32pp. (Six titles bound in one). In red cloth-covered boards with gilt titles on spine. Copiously illustrated throughout with chess board positions. 12mo. Boards are a little rubbed and rounded on corners and spine ends, spine and titles faded. A hint of toning/spotting on endpapers, else internally neat, clean, bright and tight. A collection of chess books, presenting positions and scenarios; each volume has possible solutions at the end. Written by Francis Percival Wenman, Scottish Chess Champion in 1920 and leading player throughout the early part of the 20th century. Wenman was accused of plagiarism in compiling his chess problem books but the matter seems unresolved, and his works have been sought out by keen chess players for generations.
