Vellum boards are moderately brown spotted, bruised at spine ends and a little sunned on spine; ribbon marker fraying at end; internally neat, clean, bright and tight throughout.

Hudson, a naturalist, author and ornithologist, was an advocate of Lamarckian evolution, a critic of Darwin's theory of evolution, but achieved much of his fame through his sensitive books on the English Countryside and British Birds.
