Undated (circa 1940s), 212pp. Grey cloth-covered boards; red titles on front and spine. 8vo. Lightly rubbed and rounded spine ends, spine cover and board edges moderately stained and soiled. Corners rubbed and rounded. Text block edges lightly foxed, a handful of pages at fore edge untrimmed, prelims lightly foxed. Internally neat, clean, bright and tight barring the occasional spotting at the page margins. Dust jacket has moderate shelf wear with tears and chipping to edges, mirrors book damage, not price clipped.

Based on the secret German police dossier "L'Affaire Cavell" discovered after the Great War, the author describes in vivid and moving words the story of Nurse Cavell, culminating in her execution along with Belgian architect Phillippe Bancq at the Tir National shooting ground in Brussels.
