David Bennett Hill, Born August 29, 1843, Died October 20, 1910
1st edition. In purple cloth boards with gilt lettering and decoration, elegantly decorated endpapers, tissue-guarded portrait frontispiece showing David Bennett Hill (boards moderately rubbed on lower edge, corners and spine ends, backstrip sunned, some gentle wear especially on rear board). Internally there's some light spotting on first few leaves and three rust marks on endpapers, frontispiece and title page, suggesting that at some point something metal was laid into the book; binding is a little loosened, else internally neat, clean and bright. A volume produced to mark the life and achievements of David Bennett Hill - Alderman, Attorney, US Senator, Mayor of the City of Elmira, New York Legislator and a major figure in New York's public life for three decades. Contains a tribute, copies of the proceedings of the State Legislature upon his death, and of the addresses made at this memorial service in 1911, by Hon Alan B Parker and the then Governor Dix.
