Quarter bound in white cloth over blue paper-covered boards; tipped-in illustration, gilt borders and gilt titles on front, red titles on spine. Lightly bumped spine ends. Stain on front cover, light soiling. Dusty top text block edge, all edges just starting to fox. Blue endpapers tanning. Internally neat, clean, bright and tight, barring plates that are foxing. No dust jacket. Gives a brief historical survey of the industry and a short account of some of the early works. Frontispiece of Blackfriars House protected by a loose tissue.
