A complete set of 24 Noddy Books, issued by Sampson Low, Marston & Co in the early 1960s. 62pp each with colour illustrations throughout. Illustrated endpapers. All 24 books are hardbacks, with pictorial laminated covers and complete with illustrated dust jackets. 12mos. A large and heavy set which will incur an additional charge for overseas delivery. All volumes in very good condition, with some very gentle rubbing at spine ends and corners. Upper text block edges dust marked. Internally neat and clean, and remarkably bright and vibrant. Volume 1 has a small red ink stain on the fore edges, which slightly affects a couple of early page faces. Dust jackets are a little rubbed and scuffed at spine ends and corners, with moderately sunned spines. Harmsen Van der Beek, the illustrator most often associated with Noddy, illustrated the first seven volumes. Beek died in 1953 and the remaining 17 books were illustrated, in Beek's style by four later artists, including Beek's one time assistant, Peter Wienk.
