In the early part of the 20th century, Josiah Wedgwood MP, a founding member of the History of Parliament Trust, planned a two volume publication containing the biographies of those who had served in the House of Commons between 1885 and 1918. To get into the minds of some of those MPs, in 1936 he circulated a questionnaire to those who were still alive. He received 352 responses and wrote a handful of the biographies, but he gave up the project the year after and the planned volumes were never published. This volume presents those biographies and analyses the responses he received.
