Bound in pictorial, lettered cloth, blind embossed design on rear panel, decorations and gilt lettering on spine. All edges gilt. 4to. Cloth moderately worn and rubbed at edges, rubbed through and rounded at corners. Spine tips rubbed and round. Cloth darkened and marked. Hinges cracked, the rear one almost wholly so. A little faint smudging on endpapers, short and mild corner crease affecting first few leaves, else internally neat, clean, bright and tight. A wonderful collection of humorously related pen portraits and comment articles, all elegantly and wittily illustrated with engravings. Articles include several regarding Darwin's Origin of the Species; and pen portraits include those about Hickory F Nutt, Miss Juliana Hipswidge, Miss Puff Blowzy, Mr Guy Fox etc. Very hard to find title.
