First edition.  No. 1218 of an edition limited to 3000 copies  (a further 200 copies were produced in a full leathering binding and slipcase).  336pp, with 47 double plate illustrations (showing 241 bows) and further illustrations in text.  Quarter bound in tan leatherette over brown leatherette boards, gilt-stamped titles front and spine.  Brown endpapers.  4to.  Very slightly pushed at spine base else neat, clean, bright and tight throughout.

A handsome and imposing volume, in near fine condition throughout.  The seminal reference work on bows for stringed instruments and their makers compiled by the reknown Chicago violinist, Joseph Roda, including a biographical list of bow-makers.
