Border Tales, And Legends of the Cheviots and the Lammermuir
vi, 194pp. Occasional engravings in text. Half-bound in contemporary beige leather over marbled boards, six panels to spine, with gilt lettering and decoration. Top edge gilt, all other text block edges speckled red (boards a little rubbed on edges and points, minor indentation on upper edge, slightly worn all over). Suspected replacement Lincoln green endpapers. Faint, occasional spotting on prelims only; the leaf carrying p13 and p14 has a small chip on the margin, not affecting text. An attractive and tactile copy of this hard to find title relating sites, legends and stories of England's border country. It starts with Fenwick Hall, near Doncaster, and there's a lovely engraving on Bamborough Castle. 12mo.
