Bookbindings, Old and New: Notes of A Book-lover, with an Account of the Grolier Club, New York (The Ex-libris series)
342pp with black and white illustrations in text, tissue-guarded plate frontispiece. Green cloth-covered boards with gilt lettering. Top edge gilt. Title page printed in red and black with central vignette. 8vo. Cloth is a little tired, rubbed and rounded at corners and tips of a sunned spine, a few mild marks. Shadowing and faint spotting on endpapers, tissue guard toned with offset toning in margins of frontispiece, hint of toning in margins throughout.
A very pleasing vintage volume, elegantly produced albeit well used, providing a compelling guide to bookbinding practices up to the end of the 19th century.
