525pp plus four pages of publisher's advertisements bound in at rear, together with small promotion slip for the volume. Thirteen colour plates - largely of hunting scenes - and 69 woodcut illustrations, all by renown illustrator, John Leech. Nice, solid copy with rough cut text block edges. Red cloth covered boards a little rounded at corners.  12mo.  Previous owner's inscription. Previous owner's bookplate on front paste down endpaper. Mild spotting and a little shaken. Facsimile of 1858 (first) edition. The preface from the author says "It may be a recommendation to the lover of light literature to be told that the following story does not involve the complication of plot. It is a mere continuous narrative of an almost every-day exaggeration interspersed with sporting scenes and excellent illustrations by Leech".
