The eruption of Laki in June 1783 is one of history's great untold natural disasters. The Icelandic volcano spewed out a poisonous fog that lasted for 8 months but its effects across Europe lingered far longer. It caused the death of people as far away as the Nile and created famine that played into the French Revolution.
