First UK edition, first printing (preceded by the US edition, some three weeks earlier). Prelims plus 254pp. Decorated endpapers. Original 'top secret' envelope - issued with the first edition - containing 10 transit documents purporting to be from the office of the Prime Minister laid in. In black cloth-covered boards with gilt block lettering to spine (boards are strong, square, clean and sharp, just a little rounded at spine ends). Internally neat, clean and tight; a hint of toning to pages. In its original dust jacket (slightly rubbed along leading edge and a tad chipped at spine ends). The dust jacket is now protected in an archival-quality mylar wrapper, fitted without the use of tape or adhesives.
