First edition, first impression.  Signed and inscribed by Morton Latham on the front free endpaper.  [1], 122, [2]pp with tissue-guarded portrait plate frontispiece.  Quarter bound in white cloth over green cloth-covered boards.   Top edge gilt, other text block edges untrimmed. 12mo.  Cloth a little worn, gently rubbed and rounded at corners and tips of a slightly sunned spine, lower leading corner has minor bump.  Some faint and occasional spotting on endpapers and first and last few leaves, else internally neat, clean, bright and tight. 

Carlo Alfredo Piatti (1822-1901) was an Italian cellist and classical composer, composing for both the cello and the piano as well as occasionally for full orchestras.  He played on a Stradivarius which is now named after him, Piatti, and owned by the Mexican cellist Carlos Prieto.  among the most celebrated musicians of his day, he was a firm feature of the long-running Popular Concerts at London's St James Hall.
