[1870]. Handsomely bound copy of Cervantes's classic, first published in Madrid in 1780. This edition published as part of "Beeton's Boy's Own Library", in a 'carefully revised and corrected edition translated into English by Charles Jarvis, with nearly 700 illustrations by Tony Johannot. Green publisher's cloth boards , decorated with black lining, rules and gilt titles and motif (boards a little faded and worn and rubbed at edges, spine ends and joints). Internally neat and clean, with gutter crack at end of first signature, a few pages with corner creases and a couple of leaves creased. A nice, handsome edition of this classic work albeit well-read.
