xiii, 14-316, plus two full page colour illustrations and portrait vignette of the author. A facsimile reprint of the original 1885 publication. Bound in full brown leather with blind embossed decorations and gilt lettering front and spine. All edges gilt. Marbled endpapers. Yellow satin ribbon marker bound in. 8vo. Boards very slightly rounded on corners. Original leaflet from the publisher, giving details of Charlie Siringo and his publication loosely laid in. Charlie Siringo said he wrote A Texas Cowboy for the money, and claimed it sold over a million copies. He was exaggerating but the story this book relates is no exaggeration. He really did sing lullabies to cattle to keep them calm, and ride the Chisholm Trail, rounding up cattle by the thousand without paying too much attention to ownership; he roped and broke wild horses, a shot the heads of chicken at a hundred paces. He was not the first American Cowboy to live this way, but he was the first to write it down. It is an exciting story and one told in plain language and full of prejudices. A beautiful book
