In greenish-brown cloth-covered boards with gilt decorations and lettering on front and spine. Top edge gilt, all other edges deckled. Title page printed in red and black. Boards a little rounded on corners and spine ends, and perhaps a tad faded. Armorial bookplate on front paste down. A little toning on free endpapers, else internally neat, clean, bright and tight. A slim, attractive and robust vintage volume, volume IX in a set of six volumes first issued by J M Dent in 1894, the first edition with Saintsbury's introduction and Wheeler's illustrations.
