1st ed, 1st imp. Red publisher's cloth boards (still strong, rounded at corners and spine ends, a mark on the front board). Lending sheet on front free endpaper, else no other library markings. Internally neat and clean barring dust marked fore-edge. In its original, vintage dust jacket (rubbed at corners, bumped along lower edge, minor spine creases and a few small chips, still bright and attractive). Manning Coles was the pseudonym of two British writers and neighbours, Adelaide Frances Oke Manning (1891-1959) and Cyril Henry Coles (1899-1965), who wrote many spy thrillers from the early 1940s through the early 1960s. The fictional protagonist in 26 of their books was Thomas Elphinstone Hambledon, who features in this vintage thriller.
